Estate Chardonnay
Wine
Montalto Estate Chardonnay is made from the best Chardonnay parcels across the estate's Mornington Peninsula vineyards. The lion's share typically comes from their home vineyard in Red Hill South.
The cool climate grapes are whole bunch pressed and transferred to French oak barrels. A considered amount of solids is maintained in the ferment. Both primary and malolactic fermentation occur naturally.
The wine matures on lees for 11 months with lees stirring as required. Yeast lees collected from previous vintages are added to some barrels to enhance the flavour and texture.
Vivid yellow, Montalto Estate Chardonnay has a citrus focus and bright natural acidity. A perfect balance of complexity, concentration and finesse. Cellaring potential is six years.
